The Man in Charge of the Astounding Success of the Blackstone Group
If you haven’t heard of Steve Schwarzman, you should pay attention. Last year Steve was named the 53rd wealthiest person in the US put together by Forbes Magazine, but it’s his incredible generosity to non profit organizations and his outstanding achivements that make him such a captivating person. Steve’s story has inspired people from the children of the well-off to those born into poverty and he has used his money to improve the lives of many people as well. The Blackstone Group was initially set up by Steve and his business partner Peter Peterson as a business offering financial advice and private-equity management. More recently, it has developed into a world leader in m&a, but Steve did not run his own enterprise immediately. Living for many of his childhood years in near Philadelphia, PA, Steve received his early education in the Abingdon school district. He graduated from Abington Senior High School; his next step was to acquire his degree from Yale University in 1969. After that, he chose to further his business education at the esteemed Harvard Business School, getting his MBA in 1972. Then Steve commenced his career in earnest with Lehman Brothers investment bank, based in New York City. He was appointed to the board of directors at the age of thirty one. Steve doesn’t simply give his time to a broad range of not for profit organizations, but he has also served as a part-time professor at Yale. What’s more, he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. Additionally, he announced in Spring of 2008 that he had presented $100 million to the New York Public Library to help in funding their expansion. Steve is also one of the trustees of the library.
As you’d anticipate Stephen A. Schwarzman has become part of the United States’ elite: he was described amongst Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on earth in acknowledgement of his international influence on finance. His meteoric rise in the financial industry is surely spectacular, not to mention the fact that his unstinting support of music and the liberal arts has undoubtedly encouraged the business community generally.
As far as the people of America can see, Steve can do no wrong. All in all, Stephen A. Schwarzman has been an important influence on both the business and financial communities and to the world generally.
