On Escaping to the Peak District: a Look at Holiday Cottages

Placed conveniently between Manchester and Sheffield, the Peak District is an ideal getaway from the tensions and strains of city life. If you come from Manchester or Sheffield, it’s accessible in about an hour by car or train and a superb selection for a one or two day break, or even longer. If you are driving from further away, we recommend you stay four or five days as there’s a great deal to see and do in the Peak District.

A good number of holiday makers connect the Peak District with the summer period, but it’s picturesque all year round, and in no other area of the UK is the change of season more emphasized than in the Peak District.

As observed previously, there is lots of activities in the Peak area. The beautiful scenes entice holiday makers out of their accommodation and into their walking boots, and there’s a lot of trails to tramp – as many as thirty popular routes.

To add to that, there’s also a lot of sites to try your luck at fishing in the Peak District, particularly Ladybower. If you’re not into physical activities, try Buxton for lunch and a walk in their pavilion gardens, or the opera (yes, Buxton has its own Opera house). Lastly the Castleton and Hathersage in the Hope Valley which are stunning and well worth the visit.

How can one locate a place to stay in the Peak District? We strongly advocate renting a Peak District cottage. Cottages are wonderful in that they ensure you have the seclusion of your own space, and the opportunity to unwind and relax with your family and friends in a cozy environment. The best place to find such holiday cottages is to go online and search. Use a search keyphrase such as “places to stay in the Peak District” and one is sure to find a lot of possible accommodation choices.
