Exercise & Russian Kettlebells

Don’t get the wrong idea; the idea of the kettlebell isn’t a fresh idea. The approximations backed by experts date the implement as having been invented early in the 1700s. However, is anyone surprised to hear that the kettlebell is now considered one of the hottest workouts worldwide? And why did this happen? The kettlebell has enjoyed a meteoric rise in fame. The only things you need are the kettlebells themselves and anyone can begin with these basic moves. You can’t just step directly to the more advanced techniques, though. Walk before you run, as the well known saying goes. An important preparation when beginning to work out with kettlebells is to make sure you select the correct weight. You won’t need weights as heavy as you’d expect when kettlebells are your preferred exercise. Women will probably be best suited to an eighteen pound kettlebell, and men are recommended to use the 35lb. Indeed, the weights are remarkably low — this is because with this workout, the burn comes more from the routine’s motion as opposed to how much weight is involved. It can also be wise to purchase an instruction DVD or book to guide you and make sure you perform the procedures as they should be. Before you go for any of the other kettlebell exercises you must learn a double-handed swing. As the foundation of many later techniques, the two-handed swing should be learned in the early going — and there’s more to it than you think. No matter what your exercises must be fluent, and not sudden. A handy safety piece of advice is worth restating here: your back shouldn’t be used to lift. Instead, employ your hips. Having mastered this exercise, you’re free to take a stab at the complex kettlebell routines. Keep your exercise regime interesting by adjusting routines and reps, accompanied perhaps by a variety of music. A second pair can be added once you’re comfortable with them, and to change the situation up altogether you may even vary the weight of the kettlebells. That way, you can ensure your muscles are exerting at full capacity and not risk levelling out. It’s vital to bear in mind that should you begin a keep fit program designed around kettlebells intending to build your muscles or to body build, the results will not exactly enthrall you. You should, instead, call upon them for weightloss and, also, for general fitness developments and maintenance in the long term.

Personally, I recommend bringing a session working with the kettlebells into your well rounded workout program. Of course, the degree to which you employ these exercises is a matter of individual choice. With a couple of exercise sessions every week it’s easy to uphold your baseline levels. And if you ramp up to five or six you’re sure to burn off your fat and weight with speed…
