More and more, screen readers are being bundled with operating system distributions. Next month Anthony Loeff nonprofit worker is writing about digital tools for visually impaired Most legally blind people 81 percent do not use computers. Web browsers, word processors, icons and windows and email programs are just some of the applications used successfully by screen reader users.
Only a small fraction of this population, when compared to the sighted community, have Internet access.
The open source GNOME desktop environment long included Gnopernicus and now includes Orca. Indeed functionality remains limited compared to equivalent desktop applications, the major benefit is to increase the accessibility of said websites. A persons choice of screen reader is dictated by many factors, including platform and the role of organizations like charities, schools, and employers.
Recent versions of Microsoft Windows come with the rather basic Narrator.
The rest have some vision, from light perception alone to relatively good acuity. Experimental approaches in sensory substitution are beginning to provide access to arbitrary live views from a camera.
While Apple Mac OS X includes VoiceOver, a more feature-rich screen reader. Screen readers are a form of assistive technology potentially useful to people who are blind, visually impaired, or learning disabled, often in combination with other AT such as screen magnifiers. Linux distributions for the blind include Oralux and Adriane Knoppix. The latter developed in part by Knopper who has a visual impairment. A screen reader is a software application that attempts to identify and interpret what is being displayed on the screen. Later versions of Microsoft Windows include an Accessibility Wizard and Magnifier for those with partial vision, and Microsoft Narrator, a simple screen reader. Screen readers can be assumed to be able to access all display content that is not intrinsically inaccessible.
There are also open source screen readers, such as the Linux Screen Reader for GNOME and NonVisual Desktop Access for Windows.
Further, using a screen reader is, according to some users, considerably more difficult than using a GUI and many applications have specific problems resulting from the nature of the application. Almost 25 percent of those deemed legally blind, by any measure, have no vision. The movement towards greater web accessibility is opening a far wider number of websites to adaptive technology, making the web a more inviting place for visually impaired surfers. Screen reader choice is contentious: differing priorities and strong preferences are common. This interpretation is then represented to the user with text-to-speech, sound icons, or a braille output. The Macintosh OS also comes with a built-in screen reader, called VoiceOver. The console-based Oralux Linux distribution ships with three screen-reading environments: Emacspeak, Yasr and Speakup. The primary audience for such applications is those who have difficulty reading because of learning disabilities or language barriers. Access technology such as screen readers and Screen magnifiers enable the blind to use mainstream computer applications.

You know, the other day I was looking at some things in the grocery store.
Specifically, water bottles.
Pretty dumb, right? Well, not really.
Because all bottled “water” is not alike. In fact, some of the bottled water sold contains a lot more than just water.
What kind of things? Potassium chloride. Or added sodium.
One major brand was even found to be taking tap water (yes, the stuff you get by turning on the faucet in the kitchen), bottling it, after “purifying” it, and adding a few minerals.
The lesson here? Read what’s on the bottle. Know what you’re getting.
Here are the classifications the FDA uses for bottled water:
* Artesian well water. Water from a well that taps an aquifer–layers of porous rock, sand and earth that contain water–which is under pressure from surrounding upper layers of rock or clay. When tapped, the pressure in the aquifer, commonly called artesian pressure, pushes the water above the level of the aquifer, sometimes to the surface. Other means may be used to help bring the water to the surface.
According to the EPA, water from artesian aquifers often is more pure because the confining layers of rock and clay impede the movement of contamination. However, despite the claims of some bottlers, there is no guarantee that artesian waters are any cleaner than ground water from an unconfined aquifer, the EPA says.
* Mineral water. Water from an underground source that contains at least 250 parts per million total dissolved solids. Minerals and trace elements must come from the source of the underground water. They cannot be added later.
* Spring water. Derived from an underground formation from which water flows naturally to the earth’s surface. Spring water must be collected only at the spring or through a borehole tapping the underground formation feeding the spring. If some external force is used to collect the water through a borehole, the water must have the same composition and quality as the water that naturally flows to the surface.
* Well water. Water from a hole bored or drilled into the ground, which taps into an aquifer.
Personally, I think that bottled water — while convenient for those times when you’re on the run — is often silly and expensive. Especially if you’re drinking it at home. What comes from the tap is — in most locations — quite pure, and usually tastes pretty good, too. But if you want bottled water, or need it for any variety of reasons, read and heed what you are getting for your money. Not to mention your health.

If you are planning on opening up a small business, it is very wise to offer your employees health insurance. Health insurance for small businesses is getting more and more affordable and is a great way to attract and keep great employees. So many companies do not offer health benefits to employees, and yet, this is one of the reasons most people will say they stay with one job or another.
Health insurance is not something that people want to be without, and if you are willing to help pay part of the premium, you will get good people who are willing to work hard for their pay and benefits.
I am a small business owner and am very frustrated because I want to offer health insurance to my employees, but I don’t know if I can afford to do so. Health insurance for small businesses is somewhat expensive. I have been shopping around and looking at the different products that are out there.
I think after doing my research that I will at least be able to pay part of the premium for the employees that have been with me for a set amount of time and I know they will appreciate at least having the opportunity to have health benefits with my company.

If you want to keep your youthful skin appearance, you need to
know why your skin starts to change as you age. I have listed
some of the most important things that affect skin appearance
and some of the ways to prevent the skin from aging too fast.
The sooner you start applying these ideas the longer you will
keep your youthful appearance.
As you age here are some of the changes that will occur:
* Your top skin layer, epidermis, becomes thinner and more
fragile
* Your skin becomes drier, since oil glands produce less oil
* The number of blood vessels decreases in your face and
throughout your body. Blood brings nutrients to your skin cells,
giving your skin a healthy and rosy look
* Less skin cells are repaired or replace quickly
* The sun and pollution start to show their effects on your
skin by breaking down collagen and elastin, which give your skin
its elasticity.
* Your good or bad diet starts to show it effects on your skin.
Your bad diet did not provide the nutrients your skin needed to
be flexibly, hydrated, oxygenated, and healthy.
* The un-healthy skin products you have been using start to
show their bad effects on your skin.
Now, you can see that skin beauty is dependent on what kind of
food you eat, how you have exposed yourself to the sun and
pollution, and what chemicals your facial and skin products
have. Excessive exposure to the sun and pollution will damage
your skin and accelerate its aging appearance - age spots,
blotches, wrinkles, roughness, sagging.
Here are some things you can do to slow down the aging skin.
* Use sunscreen every day - You can slow down wrinkle formation
and even prevent it, if you use sunscreen early in your life.
Use sunscreen that contains Zinc Oxide. It is better then those
that have Titanium Dioxide. Daily, use a broadband SPF 15 and
for heavy out door sun activities use SPF 30. If you wear
makeup, put your sunscreen on first.
* On hot days and even when it is overcast use your sunscreen
and a hat. Stay in the shade when possible.
* Keep away from highly polluted areas and don’t smoke. Smoking
changes the elasticity of the skin fibers leading to rough and
wrinkled skin.
* Get enough sleep. Your skin repairs itself when you sleep.
* When you sleep, don’t sleep with you face into the pillow.
* Drink plenty of water. Your skin loses water during hot days
and needs plenty of water to keep hydrated. Water is found in
raw fruits and vegetables. Sodas, sugar drinks, tea, (except
herbal teas) coffee, or milk are not water. Rotate between
buying and drinking Reverse Osmosis and Distilled water.
* Minimize drinking alcohol. Alcohol can lead to spider veins
and broken capillaries. It also causes your skin to become
dehydrated.
* Eat more fruits and vegetables. They provide plenty of
antioxidants, which protect you from sun and pollution damage.
* Take an antioxidant supplement, which should include up to
2000 mg of vitamin C. You may have to take the Vitamin C
separate.
Start using these ideas and you will see improvement on your
skin. This improvement may take a few months to appear on your
skin. Be patient and persistent and you will be rewarded with
good skin appearance.

If you’re serious about relaxation and rejuvenation, then
consider the many benefits and advantages of a Sauna. While a
hot sauna may seem a cruel punishment to inexperienced bathers,
it is actually a very pleasant experience. The Sauna and Steam
Bath Guide details the process of steam sauna usage and how you
can benefit using more modern but natural methodology. There is
no one right way to take a sauna. Above all, you should be in
good company, so that you can enjoy the experience in peace.
Beginning users should use the sauna judiciously to start. As
long as you feel comfortable, you may stay in the sauna, or
repeat a hot-cold cycle as often as you wish. Avoid using a
sauna if you have a fever or an inflammatory disease or injury,
if you are pregnant, or if you have been drinking. You may want
to consult your physician if you have a disease, such as heart
disease, high blood pressure, asthma or skin disease. Though
it’s interesting to know that sauna usage doesn’t seem to harm
billion plus people all across the globe. To get the most of the
sauna, you will need; At least half an hour of time, preferably
more, so you have ample time to relax, a large towel to dry
yourself, a smaller towel to sit on, a bathrobe to wear while
cooling down Enjoying a sauna is a personal thing; you should
always listen to your body and do as you feel best. You should
not remain inside longer than 30 minutes at a time. If there is
a pounding or feeling of faintness, the person must leave the
heated room and sit quietly. Drinking water with electrolytes
would prove helpful also as well as fresh fruit juice. After
cooling down for a few minutes, go into the sauna again and stay
a bit longer. When you feel like having another break, feel free
to do so. Finally shower to clean yourself from the sweat. Avoid
using soap as soap leaves a film and clogs the pores. Wash off
the sweat with a skin brush or loofa. Brush all over, even face
and hair. Painful at first, it soon feels wonderful. Brushing
enhances the cleansing effect. Shampoo and conditioner contain
chemicals toxic to the body so use only if needed. Allow
yourself to cool and dry properly before clothing yourself. This
allows time to eliminate dead cells and other debris. Follow the
sauna with a peaceful rest and a drink. Drink mineralized water
before and after the sauna. Make sure the bowels move regularly,
as sauna therapy will increase elimination. As you become
healthier, you will sweat more easily. Also, to heat up the
sauna will take longer. The body dissipates heat more
efficiently and fewer cellular toxins are there to be removed.
Results are much better when saunas are part of an integrated
program. The latest resource is an ebook guide called “The Sauna
and Steam Bath Guide”, by Sylita Thomas. The basic goal is to
enjoy and relax, and sweat. It’s a simple, uncomplicated
pleasure, to which nobody is exempt from access. So never mind
the mysticism: just remember you’ve only one duty in the sauna
and that’s to enjoy it. Would you like to take sauna to another
level than just sweat at the gym? Would you like to almost reach
a high level of peace and serenity? For additional information
