Link Exchanges are the most popular way for webmasters to get targeted traffic to their websites. It is designed for enhancing their web ranking with Google, Yahoo and the numerous other search bots out there.
But! What you don’t know could hurt you instead of helping you! For example, If you were to exchange a link with someone that had their web-site banned from a paticular search enginge such as Google, how would you know? Did you know that linking your website with a banned website could infact get your website banned also?
Or, If you were to exchange a link with someone who has a link-farm! How would you know, and most importantly, how can you tell if this website is in fact a link-farm in itself?
Did you know that exchanging your link with a link-farm could get your site de-merrit points with search-bots thus hurting your ranking instead of improving your ranking?
Don’t Panic! Good News Is Here!
My Name is Michael Taylor and I am a webmaster that has learned from trial and error. I am writing this ezine to educate you Not to make the same mistakes that I made so your link Exchanges are prosperous and YOU benefit, not just your link partner! And it won’t even cost you a copper penny!
Did I say benefit you and not just your link partner? Yes, in fact there is a little known secret that I am about to share with you that no one is talking about. The information that I am about to give you is so dog-gone astonishing that your going to wonder why the “Geru’s” on Internet Marketing” aren’t telling you this! Why “SEO” experts aren’t sharing this information! Why nobody is talking about this EXCEPT ME!
We’ll talk more about “Link-Partners” in a while. First I would like to let you know a little bit about me.
I’ve been involved with the Internet marketing business almost five years now, not as many as most but enough to get Educated! I’ve had a few endeavors with so called “SEO” experts and “Internet Geru’s” promising this and guaranteeing that.
I had spent tremendous amounts of money on E-books, Ezines and get rich quick gimmicks that promised to “set me straight” on my multi figure income business. But, guess what? All I ended up with is an empty wallet and lot’s of worthless information! Has this happened to you yet? Let’s hope not!
Now I’m not here to bad mouth anybody. I won’t mention any names with my previous encounters. But I will name people who are above board and give you results! One person who comes to mind is “Only Ten Matters”. That’s the bottom line here folks. If your not on the “Top-10″ of any search engine, your not going to get your website traffic. Period!
If you haven’t found this out yet, and you will if you proceed in the direction that most “SEO” and “Internet Geru’s” would lead you, you will find that striking it rich on the Internet is indeed possible, but will cost you a bunch of hard earned greenbacks to get the answers.
If you will keep reading my Ezines periodically, I will give you the answers (and the Truth!) for FREE!
You Get What You Pay For! Is Not Always The Truth!
Now, back the that so called “Link Partner”. Now here is the Truth! Not all link partners are created equal! Did you get that? When joining a link exchange program, keep in mind that you are the ethical one, everyone else is trying to get something for nothing! I think that it is merited to say that again. Everyone (not everyone really, but most) is trying to get something for nothing!
A couple of programs come to mind that you might want to take a look at. www.link2me.com and www.linkmetro.com are just two of the many link exchange sites out on the web.
Here are just two of the many tips I will give you on link exchanges:
#1. If for any reason what so ever a reciprocal link does not respond to your link request “after the fact” that you have already added their link to your link page, within 25 days. Delete them immediately! They are using your link to point to them and don’t care what points to You! Don’t buy the bull that “maybe they are just too busy!” (Nine times out of ten if you look at their website, they are google rank and guess what? Your still trying to get to 10!) Remember what I said, your the ethical one!
#2. When you link with someone, make sure that their link page is infact linked to their main webpage. You would be suprised how many webmasters build link pages that are not even linked to their main webpage. How in the heck is the search spiders going to connect the dots? Fact is, they cannot!
So make sure you visit their main page and follow the trail. If you cannot find your link from their main page don’t link with them. Again I say, Your the ethical one!
Well, there you are as promised! I will be writing more on Link Exchange’s in the future. In the meantime, email me with you comments and what you’d like to see an Ezine on and visit my website. Thanks for reading, I hope I’ve helped you grow.

Every online business owner knows that having a website running a virtual shop needs customers for sales, and make sales turn into profits. But there are so many competitors that owns websites just like any other online business owners too. So the question is how do the customers find your website?
Here are some simple strategies that I’ve put together just for you, so you don’t have to go through a hard time testing which strategies work best for bringing traffics.
The first most important strategy in marketing your website is to get a high search engine ranking. Unless your name is already all over the internet, otherwise, search engine is the best tool for customer to get to your websites.
There are certain rules to get your website to rank high in search engines.
1. Stick to the subject. Always keep everything on your site relevant to the subject. This obviously makes a pretty good sense for search engine to index you and refer to a group of niche targeted traffic to your website, and only brings in quality prospects to you instead of just load of useless traffic which will only waste your website bandwidth.
2. You may also want to spend some time to choose a domain name and website title that fits perfectly well with your business keywords. Always make your title easy to be remembered.
3. Link popularity is definitely going to help your website rankings, so do also spend time find and contact websites that offer information complementing yours and ask for reciprocal links.
Important: Be aware that this information can change as search engines redesign their methods for relevant results.
4. If you have some money to spare for advertising your websites, pay-per-click advertising will be a cost effective method to market your website fast. A very well-known online advertising program is google adwords; but I would highly advise you to master its feature and secrets before you start using it. You can find various of courses and tutorials online.
5. Web logs or blogs are the latest trend for internet marketing. Many blogs rank well on the search engines. This is the best method to market your products and ideas especially if you are a darn good writer that can provide content that ’suck’ readers into your articles. Blog can be written in both formal and casual. You can even use blog as a business journal for public. And if you have any event coming up in your business, your readers will the first to know through your business blog.
If you have any fantastic ideas and marketing strategies for your online businesses, always keep in mind that the core purpose for applying all these strategies is to increase your website traffic and hence online profits; otherwise, this isn’t marketing anymore.
Aim for success when marketing your online businesses. Use the above methods and watch your traffic grow.

If you are a webmaster, chances are you have spent time looking for other sites with which to link. Did you know that many webmasters out there go out of their way to hide your link from the search engines in order to boost their own rankings? If you already know this, then you probably already know about the techniques employed to make certain your link to their site gets counted with the search engines and yours doesn’t. However if this sounds new to you then you really should read on.
So what are the techniques they use to get an inbound link without reciprocating or by devaluing the link so much that it is worthless?
- Multiple links into different sites for a single link out from a central directory
- Links into sub domains
- JavaScript wraps
- Blocking search engine spiders using Robots.txt
- Using META tags to block the search bots
- Orphan link directories
Reciprocal and Inbound Linking
Despite announcements to the contrary, reciprocal linking is not dead yet. The premise is a simple one: I’ll link to you if you link to me. What could go wrong with such a simple arrangement? Inbound links. Some webmasters salivate at the thought of a bunch of juicy one-way, inbound links to their site. All the sweeter if they have gamed another webmaster into giving them one by promising reciprocal linking but hiding their link from the search engines.
Since a one-way, inbound link is generally given more weight by a Search Engine, webmasters do what they can to develop inbound links, for example, offering free web tools or by writing articles like this one.
Checking for the Scammers
Sometimes this is obvious and sometimes a little digging is required. I often use http://www.linkmarket.net to help generate links and will manually check every site I consider exchanging links with using the following criteria:
- Check the link page is there. It is surprising how often the link page doesn’t actually exist!
- Is the site a sub-domain? Personally, I don’t like to reciprocally link to sub-domains because they typically use a central site directory. In other words, you will provide multiple links into a site using sub-domains but only receive a single link back from the central link directory.
- Is there a link to the homepage from the link page? If there isn’t, the chances are the link page is an orphan page or a central link directory for a number of sites. An orphan page is invisible to the search engines while a central directory provides a single link out for multiple links in and may not even be visible to the SE’s at all.
- Can the link pages be found from the home page? Again, unless your link appears on a page that is visible to the search engines it is pointless exchanging links. Webmasters trying to game the reciprocal link system will set up a link directory but will not actually link to it from the main body of the site; in effect preventing the search engine spiders from ’seeing’ it.
- Is the link a standard text link or is it wrapped in JavaScript or using a php server-side include? JavaScript wraps are a common way of hiding a link from the search engine spiders whilst giving the appearance of being a normal text link. PHP or other server-side includes are also sometimes used to disguise links.
- Does the Robots.txt file exclude the search engines from spidering the link pages? A quick check of the Robots.txt file will soon tell you if the SE’s are excluded from the links section.
- Are there META tags in place to prevent the SE spiders from following the links? Some webmasters will place the NOFOLLOW or NOINDEX attribute in the META tags on link pages.
- The rel=”nofollow” attribute applied to “a href= links”. A way of fighting comment spam in blogs, this attribute is also being used to prevent SE spiders from following the links.
Luckily, Firefox has some useful extensions to assist with these tasks. Chris Pederick’s Web Developer toolbar (http://chrispederick.com/work/webdeveloper/) and Quirk’s Search Status toolbar (http://www.quirk.co.za/searchstatus/) are two excellent additions to a webmaster’s kit that allow quick access to the information.
A Brief Word About PR (Page Rank)
Don’t assume that because a page is showing zero PR (Page Rank) that it is being hidden from the search engines. PR updates are irregular and take time to filter through to the lower site pages. Although zero PR may indicate sneaky linking practices, this is not always the case so it is worth checking just to be sure.
There are lots of webmasters out there who are eagerly seeking links with like-minded individuals who run websites with a proper approach to reciprocal linking. By adopting a more rigorous approach to examining the sites you intend to link with, the bad apples can be avoided and the good sites rewarded, which is as it should be.
